Node Categories
Node Categories are macro level classifications that group node metadata based on their purpose or functionality. They help structure the node library and improve usability by organizing related nodes under common sections.
They group together the node metadata that belong to the same category. In the node list in the IO designer, all nodes associated with a specific category are displayed under that category.
In addition to the default categories provided by IO, you can define and configure custom categories as described below.
How to add a new Node Category
-
Open the left sidebar and select Flow Nodes from the menu.
-
Select Categories from the menu.
-
A list of Node Categories is displayed. Select ADD in the top-right corner of the page.
-
Set the Name of your new node category, for example Demo Category.
-
Set an Index position (optional). This defines the position of the node category in the node category list.
-
Optionally, set a different color to be displayed in the Metadata list under the CATEGORY column.
-
By enabling the corresponding flag, the category can be set as deletable or not.
Warning: Once marked as not deletable, the setting is permanent and the category can no longer be deleted.
-
A dedicated flag is also available to mark the node category as nestable, allowing it to be used inside other flows.
-
Optionally, set a different Display Name and Description based on the language by manually entering the language tag and the related value. The field accepts a language code in ISO 639-1 format (e.g. en) or a locale identifier in BCP 47 format (e.g. en-US).
-
Import a new icon (optional) to be displayed on the node.
-
Select SAVE.
How to delete a Node Category
-
Open the left sidebar and select Flow Nodes from the menu.
-
Select Categories from the menu.
